Ranger or Monk?
I've been having a hard time deciding with whether to make a ranger or a monk.
If I make a ranger/monk I already know that I'm going to make it in prophecies and both of them have pretty good looking armor. I've also looked into builds and I've also played both before. I enjoy ever last bit of them. They both just simply rock. But I'm having trouble deciding which should be my title characters? Please some comments and suggestions. Thanks in advance. |

Depends if you want a nature hippie or a religious hippie. :P I would say Monk, I hated preparations on the Ranger and the many bow types... probably why I hated playing Dervish. Too many pre-battle skills. T_T

Monk if you like pickup groups.
Assassin, Paragon, or Warrior if you like tearing through PvE with H/H. |

I would personally recommend rangers. If you look at the different things you can run on both, I believe rangers have monks beat.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I find the best utility for Monks to be farming and healing/prot. So, wherever you go to PvE or PvP, you'll always be healing/proting if not farming. Yes, you can also tri-smite in TA. While it is stupid to even consider using rangers for healing others, you can utilize them for different functions whenever you get bored with a certain build you're running (Daggers, Sway, cond spreading, interrupting, beast mastering, spear chucking, bow spiking, trapping, touching, spirit spamming, and AoE bombing) Since you'll be playing your title character for obscene amounts, I think it'll be beneficial to have plenty of options on what you can run. |

Be sure to stop by the Assassin forums and read up a bit on them, because it can be a difficult class before good skills are acquired for it, and appears weak to those who don't understand how to play it. Sample build that I'm currently using: [build prof=A/W name="Golden Moebius Blossom" box dagger=12+1 crit=12+1+1 desc="Works best with Zealous daggers. Usage: Apply CA. Apply CD if needed. Start the chain with GPS and then use DB+MS until the target is dead. Repeat on all enemies. Maintain SY when possible. Dash for mobility. FGJ to help SY."][GPS][death blossom][moebius strike][save yourselves][dash][fgj][critical agility][critical defenses][/build] EDIT: Actually no, not currently using it. Assassin just died and was far off from finishing Legendary Survivor, so now I'm playing on my Warrior :P Last edited by Zahr Dalsk; Aug 10, 2008 at 07:23 PM // 19:23.. |

If you do make another character and you come across this dilema.
Monks- If you want to always get a group for most things. Use. Heal 55 Heal Rangers- If you want to be able to solo alot of things. And what not. Trap Midline "Barrage" (toucher) Running |
